Endings
Sometimes I wonder why it is I believe in God. And when I do, one of the things that sustains me is the realization that I do believe the world will end. Anyone attuned to the rhythms and patterns of the human race and of this world we live in can sense that. Someday, the lights will go out – and when they do, the God of the Bible is the only truth I have discovered which, being tested, rings out...

Today the bus driver, upon entering the bus where I was already sitting, looked at me with the startled, deeply appreciative gaze of someone meeting an old friend for the first time in months. My Korean co-workers then explained to me that he’d seen me yesterday when I rode his bus then and was extremely pleased to see me again.
This may be sad, but that was the best moment of my day.

I’ve never been good at goodbyes. It’s too final and despairing. It’s like ending a great book only to wish you never reached the last page, paragraph, and word just so that you can spend a longer time with the characters and the world they reside. Harry Potter fans can relate. But there’s…

Drink plenty of water.
Know your limits. Don’t overdo.
Play games.
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
Eat more food that is close to its natural state, and less processed or manufactured.
Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

Style Inspiration
Large parts of the world devolve into black and blue clothing alone when cold weather hits (see: Korea). Fall and winter, however, can actually be an excuse to break out the color, and what better time to do that than when the skies are gray? This girl is rocking the bright yellow jacket, green hoodie, and faded blue jeans, all from J Crew.
Fashion notes: one yellow article of clothing should...

A little communion with God this morning gave me a tiny kernel of inner peace and stability that carried me through what somehow (as all my work days in the past weeks seem to) turned into a sucky day. But it’s so small - such a tiny fortress deep down inside my heart - and I’m afraid it’s going to crumble.
A verse was hovering around the corners of my mind this morning....

I think the thing that makes me saddest to hear a girl say is that she doesn’t think she’s beautiful. That she thinks she needs to lose weight, or that she doesn’t like how her face looks, or she wants to get plastic surgery, or that she wishes people would tell her she’s pretty.
Because I’ve…

Grace-note
“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the LORD of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.”
-Malachi 3:10

Sigh. I was not expecting to have this problem here.
Although I admit that it was nice, if only for a brief flashing moment, to feel like an attractive woman again - something I haven’t felt since getting here.
However, my game plan is this: to be as quiet and boring as possible.
I’m pretty certain it will work since I have no interesting stories of getting wasted or high anyway.

First Trailer for Julian Fellowes' Titanic...
Julian Fellowes, the creator of smash hit Downton Abbey, is making a four-part, large-scale Titanic miniseries, and the first trailer came out today. I must say, I’m a little surprised (and disappointed) that I don’t recognize any of the faces in it - I only occasionally watch British TV but am more familiar with the faces than the average American and none of these actors are...
